Ladies fishing

Over 40 anglers from around Florida and other states gathered in mid October to fish and learn during the Ladies, Let's Go Fishing! Keys University and Fishing Fever tournament in Tavernier. They caught 160 fish and released 109 for a total of 269 fish.

Winners of the LLGF Fishing Fever tournament were: top offshore: Diane Odell of Cocoa Beach with a 25-pound wahoo aboard Sea Horse with Capt. Rick Rodriguez; second place offshore: Robin Hinote of Avon Park with a 14.5-pound mahi on Doghouse with Capt. Jesse Cromer; top offshore release: Joni Craig of Gainsville with a sailfish on Phoebe with Capt. Frank Drudi; top inshore: Dawn Miller of Punta Gorda with a 32-inch snook on Capt. Chris Hanson’s Scales 2 Tales; second place inshore: Julie Mayer of Taneytown, Md., with a 30-inch redfish, and Dawn Miller of Punta Gorda, with a 30-inch snook, both on Capt. Chris Hanson’s Scales 2 Tales (tie). Top junior angler: Anabelle Goulart of Belle Isle, with a blackfin tuna.
